Police make arrest in Ozubulu church attack

The police has started investigation into the violent attack in Anambra - Some suspects have been arrested in connection to the attack - The police promised to make their identity known at the completion of investigation According to Channels TV, the police began investigation following the attack and have made some arrest although no names have been given yet.   

Mr Garba Umar who is the state commissioner of police had confirmed that gunmen stormed the church during an early morning service and opened fire on worshippers. He said it was not unconnected to what he described as gang war. Nkeiruka Nwode who is the spokesperson of the state police command also confirmed the arrest of the suspects on Monday, August 7. The spokesperson said: “This is a very sensitive investigation so you people (journalists) have to help us. PAY ATTENTION:  “As soon as the investigation is concluded, we will let the public know. But as far as I’m concerned, it definitely has nothing to do with terrorists. It’s just a conflict between individuals

 had reported that Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state said two persons from Ozubulu who are known drug barons in South Africa are the prime suspects of the attack on St Philips Catholic church in Ozubulu. The governor made the statement on Sunday, August 6, shortly after he visited the scene of the attack in Ekwusigo local government area of the state, Channels TV reports. Obiano who described the attack as a sacrilege said the briefing he received from the police had revealed that the shooting was a reprisal attack by the drug barons who traced their victim to the church. He dismissed reports that the incident was a church invasion.
