Governor Amosun Approves 16 Permanent Secretaries

Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state, approved the appointment of 16 new Permanent Secretaries in the state on Thursday, October 29.

It would be recalled that the governor on Monday, October 26, swore in the state new Head of Service, Elder Abraham Olusola Adeyemi.

Elder Abraham succeeded Mrs Modupe Adekunle who bowed out on Wednesday, September 30.
The appointed permanent secretaries include: Dr Ayinde Adesanya Ekundayo, Alhaji Adetimilehin Muftau Olumuyiwa, Mr Osota Kunle Lanre, Mr Adekunle Hassan Taiwo, Mr Olugbebi James Adebamgbele, Mr Kushimo Olufemi Emmanuel, Mr Odeyemi Oladipo Oladeinde.
Others are: Mrs Bosede Modupe Moradeun, Mrs Dina Yetunde Olubunkola, Mr Onasanya Ibikunle Aboaba, Engr. Abiodun Olayiwola, Mr Mobolaji Joseph Fabi, Mrs Dada O A, Otun Selimot Olapeju, Engr. Lawal Ganiyu Taiwo and Mr Adelekan Hakeem Olalekan.
Naij.com correspondent reliably gathered that the new permanent secretaries will be sworn in by 8.30am on Friday, October 30, at the executive chamber of the governor’s office at Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.
 

The Osun state governor will also be swearing in the state commissioners and 20 special advisers tomorrow. The swearing in will be held at the June 12-Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta.

According to reports, the mother of 14-year old tennis prodigy, Angel MacLeod was shot dead by a MOPOL officer after an altercation at a Lagos hotel yesterday. According to Vanguard, the officer who was guarding the hotel hit the deceased during an altercation and she retaliated, hitting him with an object. Infuriated at her response, the officer fired a shot from his gun which resulted in the death of MacLeod's mother. A 67-year-old man, Jimoh Ayinla, has filed a case at the Igando Customary Court in Lagos to divorce his 59-year-old wife, Anike, for alleged adultery.

He told the court that his wife whom he had married for 38 years with seven children was adulterous which led to her being impregnated by another man while she was still in his matrimonial home.

In the husband's words: “My wife left my house to an unknown destination and I did not know that she was pregnant until she gave birth later in her new man’s house.”

Jimoh told the court that 14 years after his wife had left her matrimonial home and refused to return, he had to marry another wife in 2013.

“I married another wife because our children that used to cook for me had all married and I was getting older to cook for myself.

“It was after I had remarried that my wife returned to our home and I had to accommodate her. But, I rejected the child she bore for another man asking her to send the child back to her father,” he said.

The petitioner said Anike had been fighting him and his new wife since he allowed her back in his home.

“Anike was always engaging my younger wife in physical fight on daily basis and I am afraid she might kill her one day. She always slaps me whenever we have heated argument.” Jimoh told the court.

He alleged that Anike would leave the house for weeks without his consent and that he was tired of having to repay her indebtedness to people she borrowed money from without his consent.

The husband, therefore, pleaded with the court for the dissolution of his 38-year-old marriage, saying there was no more love in the relationship.

However, the wise, who did not deny the allegations, begged the court not to grant her husband’s application for divorce saying she was still in love with him.

NDLEA arrests man with 108 ATM cards

The suspected man is reportedly working for an international criminal organization. Pascal Udeh‎ was arrested while he was trying to board a Qatar Airline flight to China.

Premium Times reports that the ATM cards belong to five commercial banks.

Ahmadu Garba‎, the NDLEA commander at the Lagos airport, said the Pascal was arraigned in connection with supposed money laundering and was straightaway carried out to the assets and financial investigation directorate of the agency for the probe.

Agency said that the highest number of debt cards belong to First City Monument Bank, 23 cards to Stanbic IBTC Bank; 19 – Zenith Bank, 6 – Fidelity Bank, and 2 from Diamond Bank.

Victoria Egbase, the director of assets and financial investigation, said the NDLEA had constituted a prima facie case of financial crime against the man and that the chair had directed the transfer of the case to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for further inquiry.

Ahmadu Giade, the NDLEA chairman, said: “This is a suspected money laundering case involving cash transfer with debit cards,” said Mr. Giade.

“The EFCC will carry out further investigation on the case. We must continue to work together as a united force against criminal syndicates.”

The agency cited the suspect as saying that he was asked to take the cards to China.

Udeh said: “I am not the owner of the cards.”

“I was told to take them to China and that somebody will collect them from me when I get there. I have a shop where I sell clothes at Onitsha main market.

“I am also a 300-level student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra state studying history and international relations. I never knew it would lead to my arrest.”

The arrested man comes from Obibi in Orlu local government area of Imo state.
