Man shoots wife’s lover dead while having sex in the bush in Bayelsa

A 53-year-old man, Raphael Solomon, has shot his wife’s lover, Preye Bernard, dead while they were having sex in the bush near a cassava processing mini-plant in Bayelsa State.

The incident reportedly occurred in Aduku community of the Sagbama Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday.
It was learnt that Raphael, an indigene of Odi, an Ijaw community in the Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of the state, had a large cassava farm.

 It was gathered that 27-year-old Bernard was the owner of the cassava processing plant used by the couple to process their produce.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Solomon, who had learnt of the alleged romance between Joy and Bernard, trailed his wife to the plant and caught them.
The source said, “We heard that as soon as he saw them, he shot Bernard dead.”
Spokesman for the Bayelsa State Police Command, Asinim Butswat, said the incident happened at about 2.30pm.
He said, “A team of detectives, led by the Divisional Police Officer, Sagbama division, has arrested the suspect.
