Rinsola Babajide Speaks On Playing For Nigeria

Rinsola Babajide, who currently plays as a winger for Spanish Liga F team, UDG Tenerife, is overjoyed to have finally made her Super Falcons debut.
Rinsola Babajide was born in London to Nigerian parents and had the hope of playing for the Lionesses of England, but that didn’t happen. However, the 25-year-old former Liverpool and Brighton winger played for England up to the Under-21 level before she started considering switching her allegiance to her ancestral home. Babajide’s opportunity to finally play for the Super Falcons came when she was invited to play a part in the Super Falcons’ 2024 Olympic Games Women’s qualifier against Ethiopia. During the game, which went down last Wednesday, October 25, Rinsola Babajide replaced Uchenna Kanu in the 70th minute of the encounter. She played a part in ensuring that the Super Falcons left Ethiopia with at least a point, as the game ended in a 1-1 draw at the Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa. After the clash, Babajide took to her X page to acknowledge that making her debut for the Super Eagles of Nigeria is a proud moment for her and her family. “Proud moment for me and my family making my debut. 25.10.23, a date to cherish forever”, she wrote. Rinsola Babajide would be looking forward to playing her second game for the Super Falcons when Nigeria takes on Ethiopia at Moshood Abiola National Stadium for the second leg of the 2024 Olympic Games qualifier. If the Super Falcons knockout Ethiopia, the Nigerian team will face either Cameroon or Uganda in the next round of the qualification series.
