Security operatives have raided a two-storey-building at the Oworonsoki area of Lagos, where alleged murderers reside.
According to residents, the building located at No. 34
Olorunfunmi street, has four apartments on each floor, but none of the
apartments was occupied by the owner or tenants.
The house in question was reportedly occupied by security guards who
are now accused of murdering one Olufumbi Lawal, a resident who lived on
the same street.
Lawal, a 32-year-old man, was seen laying lifeless and covered in a pool of blood at the ‘horror house’, on Friday, October 23.
Neighbors said the victim’s killers were trying to dispose of the corpse, when the murder was discovered.
According to SaharaReporters, the victim had been missing since the
previous day, some neighbours said they had seen him going into the
suspected den of murderers where his body was eventually found the next
day.
Lawal’s co-tenants, said the victim had some form of business
relationship with the guards at the dreaded house and had gone there at
their invitation.
There is speculation that the unsuspecting victim had gone to receive payment for some unspecified transaction.
On discovery of Lawal’s remains, a mob stormed the house by breaking its windows to apprehend the alleged killers.
Residents of the area who broke into the guards’ quarters, alleged
that while rummaging through the compound, they found other clothes
soaked with blood in a large “Ghana-must-go” bag.
Sources claim that one of the alleged culprits confessed that he and four others murdered Lawal.
The alleged culprit, identified as Ali Mohammed, reportedly disclosed
that he and his associates had used iron bars and machetes to kill the
victim.
Ali and one other culprit was arrested, while the other members of
the killer group fled the building on realizing that their dastardly act
had been discovered.
The apprehended culprits were taken into police custody, officers
were deployed to the house to prevent further damage to it by the
incensed neighbours.
A police source said that some of the other murder suspects had fled on bikes that their victims had bought for them.
The unnamed police source said that the case was currently before a
magistrate court in Ebutte Metta, Lagos. The presiding magistrate
adjourned the case till December 7, 2015.
Investigations reveal that Lawal Olufumbi was murdered following a transaction of motorbikes.
The suspect, Ali, confessed that he and two other guards had bought
three motorbikes from the victim, promising to pay him in installments.
He said they had invited him the evening of October 22, to receive
payment for the bikes, adding that they had planned to kill him once he
arrived.
Residents claimed that Ali had raped a bread-hawker in the same
premises just two days before the discovery of the late Lawal’s body.
They said the suspicious house, which has “For Sale” painted in its
front, hangs the sign only as a decoy to mask the murders going on
within the house.
