Buhari Griefs Over Non-Payment Of Teachers Salaries
President Muhammadu Buhari has shown concern over the non-payment of teachers’ salaries across the states.
On Tuesday, July 28, 2015, President Buhari raised this issue and several others during a briefing held by heads of parastals in the Federal Ministry of Education, of their various activities in Abuja.
According to The Nation, the President disclosed the outstanding payment of teachers’ salaries as being unfair.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, MacJohn Nwaobiala, who led the delegation, disclosed the officials’ encounter with the President while speaking with State House correspondents.
He said the President was “pained” by the plight of the teachers, some of who are owed up to 12 months’ salary arrears.
He added that, Buhari also expressed concern at the rating of Nigerian universities among their peers across the world, as some of the ratings were misinterpreted.
However, Nwaobiala disclosed that the top priority for the president remains the school children displaced by terrorists in the county.
