Police in Benue State have arrested
a man identified as Raphael Agazi for beheading one Ajah Esim for reason yet to
be known.
Tribune Online learnt that the
suspect was arrested on his way to Ijekun in Obi Local Government Area of the
state after he was caught with a bag where he kept the head.
Though the reason for his action was
unknown, one report, however, said that the suspect might be one of those who
deal in sale of human parts and might be heading to Ijekun to sell the head.
Another report said that both the
deceased and the suspect had been at loggerheads for some time over a piece of
land until early Monday when the duo met on the same land where he overpowered
the deceased and severed his head.
The suspect was said to have buried
the body of the deceased in a shallow grave after he cut the head.
Area Commander of Otukpo, ACP Samuel
Drakoji, who spoke to Tribune Online on phone, confirmed the incident, but said
that the suspect's statement was incoherent which made it difficult to know why
he killed the man.
Drakoji added that he had sent his
men to the bush to recover the body.
Benue State Police Public Relations
Officer (PPRO), ASP Austin Ezeani, confirmed the incident, saying that
the case was still with the Area Commander in Otukpo.
