Tinubu, Ladoja and Obasanjo’s Discussions.

On Thursday APC National Leader, Bola Tinubu, told the Press “We have come to consult him (Obasanjo) as some of his former boys are contesting in our party. We need to know what he thinks about them”.

An authoritative source close to the meeting has however revealed that Alhaji Tinubu was not telling the truth. “The meeting he had with Baba and former Oyo governor, Senator Rasheed Ladoja was mainly about the 2015 election in Oyo state.” Our source said Obasanjo actually called the meeting to ask Tinubu to prevail on the incumbent governor, Abiola Ajimobi not to seek a second term so that Ladoja can return to the office the former President in conjunction with the late “garrison commander”( Lamidi Adedibu) illegally removed Ladoja from in 2006.
In the course of their discussions Ladoja was reported to have complained bitterly of how he aided the victory of Ajimobi in 2011 only for him to renege on the pact he signed with him after he became governor. “Ladoja said Ajimobi signed that he would give him 20% of the cabinet, board appointments and Local Governments leadership but that he only fulfilled that of the cabinet and jettisoned the rest of the deal” said NP source.
Tinubu was said to have interjected Ladoja at that point and said “I want to beg you to forgive him. I am actually the person who asked him to disregard the pact after he had you some commissioners”. The former Lagos helmsman even reportedly prostrated for Ladoja as they stepped out of the conclave with Obasanjo only for him to confide in some aides later that he knew nothing about the pact and the betrayal. The meeting ended inconclusively as the parties only agreed to further explore the talks.
NP investigations confirmed that Mr Pius Akinyelure, the South West Zonal Vice-Chairman of APC two days after led a delegation to Ladoja’s home in Ibadan to follow up on the meeting but all they got were cold shoulders from Ladoja.
However temper is flaring in Ajimobi’s camp that Tinubu would go and be engaging in deals on Oyo state without carrying the stakeholders along. “Yes, he is the leader of the party but he is not from Oyo state and cannot therefore shave our heads in our absence. We are livid with him for assuming too much to himself ” said a member of Oyo APC executive council who is close to Ajimobi
